Evelyn McCartney

August 18, 1929 - September 26, 2025Spokane - Evelyn McCartney, 96, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. Born in Odessa, WA, she eventually moved to Wenatchee to work for the General Telephone Company. There, she met Harry McCartney. Within a few short months, they were married on October 6, 1951. The two relocated to Odessa, where they started their family with the birth of their two daughters, Peggy and Judy, 11 months later. After moving to Harrington, they expanded the family with the birth of their son, Tom. Together, the family built a life centered on family, faith, and community. Evelyn was a devoted homemaker and played an integral role in the family's businesses. She and Harry eventually moved to Spokane.Evelyn loved traveling, sewing, baking, and was a very

proud grandmother to her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Francis Groh; and siblings, Clem Jr., Bob, Helen Pierce, Marge Tebow, Marion Aman, and Janice Groh, Evelyn is survived by her grandchildren, Gavin (Kayla) Wagner and Travis (Haley) Wagner; great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Tate, and Treig Wagner; and siblings, Marvin Groh, John Groh, Patricia Jensen, and Tom (Diane) Groh.A joint memorial service with Harry will be held at 12:30 pm, on October 17, 2025, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Harrington, WA.
