Eugene Glen Sivertson

October 27, 1925 - February 11, 2017

SIVERTSON, EUGENE GLEN - (Age 91) Gene was born on October 27, 1925 and raised in Tacoma, WA, to Martha and Sivert Sivertson. He attended WSU, played varsity basketball, and obtained his education degree. He married Zosia Nowogroski in 1946 and began a lifelong teaching career in Moses Lake followed by thirty years instructing math at Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane. He also enjoyed coaching and was an avid golfer. He and Zosia lovingly raised their three daughters Steffi, Vicki, and Terri who all attended Spokane Public Schools. He worked summers for the parks department, served on the board of the Spokane Teachers’ Credit Union, and generously supported Spokane Cancer Patient Care, Fred Hutchison and the Restless Leg Foundation. Gene married Noreen Devlin in 1988 after Zosia’s death from cancer in 1984. He and Noreen traveled extensively, played golf, and avidly watched football and basketball together. They also wintered in Coronado, California for many years as Gene and Noreen loved being near the ocean. After breaking his hip in November of 2016 Gene contracted influenza A, pneumonia and sepsis and died February 11, 2017 at Hospice of Spokane. - A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held March 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church 5810 S. Meadowlane Rd. In lieu of flowers contributions in Gene’s name may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
