Emily J DeFelice

June 20, 1923 - May 22, 2017

Emily J. DeFelice (Julian) - Emily DeFelice passed away May 22, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born in Spokane, Washington on June 20, 1923 to Italian immigrants, Carmen and Esther Julian. In 1941 she graduated from Marycliff High School. On June 29, 1946 Emily married Albert O. DeFelice and they spent fifty-three wonderful years together. - In July 2012, Emily moved from the comfort and beauty of her home in Spokane Valley and relocated to Evergreen Fountains Senior Living Community. Three years later she was transferred to a family healthcare home. - Cooking and baking were Emily's passions. She took pride in preparing food for family get-togethers, holidays and special events. She made sure to have plenty of food and baked goods available - like homemade meatballs, spaghetti sauce, biscotti and pizzelle - whenever neighbors or visitors showed up. Emily learned the art of crochet from her mother and made beautiful tablecloths, doilies and afghans. She also loved to sew, grow a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers. - Emily was a loving and compassionate lady, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother a friend to many. She is survived by three children: Linda (Carl) Nutt, Janet Thielemann, Albert J. (Sue) DeFelice; six grandchildren, Eric (Elissa) Nutt, Jennifer (Todd) Miller, Kelly (Rachel) Nutt, Michelle Thielemann, Monica (Brian) Kachmarik and Landon DeFelice; five great-grandchildren, Gisele, Brennan, Austin, Colton and Olivia; her sister Gilda DeFelice and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Albert, brother John Julian and sister Dora Julian. - The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Chuck and Toni Foster who provided constant loving care to Emily the last 20 months of her life. - A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. John Vianney Church, 503 N. Walnut Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99206. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morning Star Boys Ranch or Second Harvest Food Bank. Community Cremation & Funeral Spokane Valley - 13127 E.
