GILLIAM, Douglas R. (Age 65) Douglas (age 65) passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. He was born on December 31, 1952 in Pullman, WA and was raised by his mother, Beatrice (Bea) Gilliam and his father, Harland (H.D.) Gilliam. The oldest of 3 siblings, he is survived by his sister, Lynn Rueppel (1956) and his brother, Craig Gilliam (1957). He lived his entire life in Washington State, 40 years of which was surrounded by family and friends at Williams Lake in Cheney. Most recently, he resided at Washington Square Apartments in Cheney. He was a proud member of the NRA, a passionate collector of guns, knives and swords, and a dedicated fan of Harley Davidson and RC cars. His favorite pastime was watching movies from his extensive collection of titles. Over the years, he was a devoted pet owner. Since adopting his most recent dog, a red Doberman named Scarlett, it would be rare to see him without her by his side. With his strong opinions and ability to get a rise out of others, he probably, at one point or another, riled everyone he met. A closer look would reveal these interactions as comradery and a desire to connect through debate. In truth, he was a caring friend, brother, uncle, and son that had limitless amounts of love and affection to offer those in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle James Roy Caine (Bud), and his aunt Bernice Emerson. Left to honor Doug and remember his love are his siblings and their spouses, his uncle Richard Emerson, his nephew Christopher Thompson and his wife, and his great nephew whom he adored, Max Thompson.
