July 17, 1926 - September 23, 2017
Dorothy was born July 17, 1926 in Spokane to Edwin and Ada Stansbury. She grew up on the north side of town on Frederick Street. She was the youngest of four girls. She graduated from Rogers High School. She married Tom Tourtellotte on May 22, 1945. They had four daughters (Patty, Bonnie, Linda and Eloise) and one son (Skip); many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. They enjoyed snowmobiling in their early years, spending time with their friends in the Winter Knights Snowmobile Club, boating in the summer at Loon Lake and Coeur d'Alene Lake where they lived until Tom became ill and they had to sell their home. They bought land in Yuma, Arizona in 1982 and spent winters there until 2012. Tom passed away in 1998 but Dorothy continued traveling to Yuma until her health declined. The family had many good years with her traveling together on several cruise ships to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska; and the Panama Canal. Our family enjoyed playing cards and games and we got together as often as possible. Dorothy also enjoyed volunteering at Valley Hospital for 15 years and meeting her Rogers high school friends once a month for lunch. The caregivers from Hospice of Spokane were so kind to Dorothy and we wish to thank each and every one of them. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in Dorothy's name to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215 Spokane WA 99210. A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 PM, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Pines Mausoleum Chapel, located across 16th Ave from Pines Cemetery, 1402 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
