Funeral Service: Friday, August 22, 2025, at 1:30 PM

Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, Spokane Valley, Washington

Born on December 1, 1930, in Wibaux, Montana to Kenneth and Mary Lynch. Donna was the oldest of 7 children. She grew up helping to keep the farm running and assisting in caring for her younger siblings.  However, Donna loved learning and would read anything she could get her hands on.  She even read the phone book as a child.  She carried this love of reading with her throughout her life.

In her 20’s, Donna married Wendell Durrer on the fourth of July in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They lived in France and Germany, as well as several other areas in the United States, while Wendell was in the Air Force. Her favorite overseas location was Germany.  After 20 years of military service, they returned to Spokane and bought 2 acres in Otis Orchards, where they enjoyed living a quiet, rural life of gardening, mowing hay, canning, and raising beef. Donna was tired of traveling and wanted to settle down in one place.  She stayed there for the next 48 years.

Donna adored babies and children. At any gathering, she was always to be found holding a baby or playing with a child.  Almost any picture of Donna showed her bouncing someone’s baby on her knee.

Donna loved to sit on her back porch and watch the birds and read a book. She also loved ot play cards, although it brought out her mischievous side. She definitely wasn’t above cheating at Uno to win the hand.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her six siblings. Donna is survived by her daughter Cindy, granddaughter Brandy and her husband Ron. She also has 4 great-grandchildren that she adored: Laurel, Alyssa, Olivia, and Savannah.
