May 23, 1930 - January 31, 2017

May 23, 1930 - January 31, 2017 - Don was born in Spokane to Clyde and Mary Belle Sale, the third child of four. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1948. While attending Central Valley he met his wife Pat and they married shortly after graduation and spent the next 68 years together, until Pats death on August 9, 2016. - After working for the Coca-Cola company for 30 years, first as a delivery driver then route manager, he retired in 1985 and he and Pat spent the next 30 years enjoying their retirement together. They hooked up the 5th wheel and hit the road, traveling to the places they had always wanted to see. They spent many winters enjoying the Arizona sunshine, where he could spend as much time as he wanted on the golf course. Having played basketball at Central Valley and winning the state championship his senior year, he loved college basketball especially the Gonzaga bulldogs and never missed a game. His wish was to make it to March so he could see the bulldogs make it to the final four, that didnt happen but I think he will be watching from heaven. - Don is survived by his 5 children son Stephen (Jan) Sale; daughters Shellie Sale; - Shanna (Troy) Varness; Nancy Shaw; and Tammy Cook; brother Vern Sale; sister-in -law Noreen Sale; his beloved dog & constant companion Sandy; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. - He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother Chic; sister Marilyn Hoerner; sister-in-law Marlene Sale; son-in-law David Cook; granddaughter Christy; and great-granddaughter Jamie. - A memorial service will be held on February 11, 2017 at 1:00 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. - In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in his honor to Jamies Heart Foundation, 2732 East Main Ave., Puyallup, WA 98372 or at Jamiesheart.org
