Donald Handel Ingham

February 03, 1929 - April 13, 2022

Donald "Don" Ingham, 93, of West Seattle WA, peacefully passed away on April 13, 2022 of natural causes. Born in Tacoma to Handel and Helen Ingham, Don was fiercely passionate about trains from the start because his father worked for the railroad. He dedicated his life to the pursuit of train travel but was fascinated by all modes of transportation, also enjoying automobiles. After he graduated from High School, Don served in the United States Army from 1/26/51 to 10/25/52. He was a combat infantryman in the Korean war and earned a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. Upon returning from the Korean war, he married and had a family of four children, 2 daughters and 2 sons. He worked for International Harvester which was acquired by Navistar. Later he remarried and had a daughter. Don put family first and was an attentive father. His children went on to pursue careers in woodworking, nursing, information technology and retail management. Don was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family. In his retirement years, Don enjoyed life with his domestic partner of 42 years. Don continued to remain passionate about train travel and spent most of his retirement riding trains across the United States. Don was predeceased by Handel and Helen Ingham, Edna Bunn, Jaqueline Deckman and Irene (Louise) Jordan and leaves behind his children Patti, Dana (Dave), Scott, John and Janice (Joaquin) and his grandchildren Erik (Sarah), Michael (Mickenna), Richard, Ashton, Jasmine, Victoria, Parker, Ellen and his eight great-grandchildren (all boys) Elijah, Malachi, Parker and Easton (twins) Izak, Sawyer, Felix and Emmett. Family services will be held to celebrate Don's life and the family requests no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Research & Prevention Foundation.
