Dennis passed away peacefully with family by his side October 11th, 2015 at the Hospice House in Spokane after a 4 ½ year battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Port Orchard, WA, the youngest of seven. Shortly after his birth, they moved to South Dakota and then returned to WA when he was six, residing in Otis Orchards. Growing up he worked on the farms hauling hay, picking berries, and other summer farm duties. He graduated from East Valley High School in 1962. He met his one true love Eileen in 1964, they married October 23rd, 1966. In 1970 they bought their first house in Veradale. He served two years in the Army as a mechanic, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was an avid bowler, playing on a league in his mid 30’s. Dennis was a hardworking man, doing various types of jobs. He worked at the paper mill, URM, Value Village, SNE, and Merck Medco, where he retired in 2009. Anybody that knows him knows his “hobbies” involved sitting in his chair, drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette, watching WWF wrestling, and listening to the police scanner. After retirement, he enjoyed watching Gonzaga basketball with his wife. He was a great dad, husband, grandpa, etc. He will be forever loved and missed dearly. Dennis is survived by his wife Eileen; two children, a son, Gene (Sophia), and daughter Annette (Jon); three grandchildren, Katlynn, Cayla, and Elijah; soon to be great grandson Maximus; brother Loren (Joanne); sister Ellen Davidson; two sisters-in-law, Lois and Bernice Berscheid; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Lula Berscheid; brothers, Gerald, Ralph, and Don; and sister, Lavonne. At his request, there will be no funeral.
