BOCK, DEBORAH S. “DEBBIE”
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Debbie Bock, who answered the call of our Lord on June 1, 2026, at the age of 93.
Debbie was born in Spokane, WA to the late Harold St. John and Eloise St. John (Quilliam) on November 15, 1932. She was the oldest of 3 children: Anne (St. John) Bock and Sue (St. John) Oliver. She was preceded in death by her two sisters.
Early in her married life, Neale, her husband, was frequently transferred and the family moved every couple of years throughout the United States. She was a master at maintaining the household and family routines during those disruptive times. Her family settled in Spokane in 1970.
Her husband of 28 years, F. Neale Bock, died prematurely in 1982 at the early age of 53.
She lived in Spokane for the last 57 years and as frequently as possible, Priest Lake, ID where she enjoyed walks in the woods with family, friends, and any dogs that wanted to tag along.
After Neale’s death, Debbie retooled and became a Special Education Teacher’s Aid at Shadle Park HS, where she most assuredly made a positive difference in many high schooler’s lives. She was kind and gentle but not afraid to let you know when discipline was needed.
She was an active volunteer with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, CASA partners, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and many other organizations over the years. She was a sports enthusiast with a passion for baseball (Mariners) and Washington Husky Football. She also enjoyed the Arts and rarely missed a Spokane Symphony Concert.
One of her many adventures was spending a whole year touring the entire continental U.S. with her best friend in a motorhome.
Debbie ran with a crowd she called “The Bridge Club”: hiking, traveling, socializing and occasionally even playing bridge! She was a good friend and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Debbie is survived by her two children, Heidi B. Stanley (Ron Stanley) and Peter Bock (Donna Herak) as well as two nieces, a nephew, and numerous cousins.
