MESSINGER, David L. (age 70) Dave passed away after a short illness on August, 29, 2014. He graduated from Endicott High School in 1962 where he enjoyed playing football. He enlisted in the Army in December of that year and served until December of 1965. He spent some time as a farmhand in Whitman County and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad prior to attending Columbia Basin College, where he completed a program for auto body repair. Dave resided in Colfax, WA and had a long career at Colfax Body Shop. He retired in 2010 and spent time in the great outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, and jet skiing with family and friends. Dave also developed an interest in gold panning and enjoyed outings with the Clearwater Chapter of the Northwest Gold Prospectors Association. Another passion of Dave's was vintage car restoration and he earned many trophies and awards with his '57 Chevy. He was born to Robert D. (Bud) and June Messinger on April 25, 1944 and was raised in Winona, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother, Gary R. Messinger (Spokane); his sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Neil Knapp (Spokane/Loon Lake); his brother Lanny Messinger; his sister Bonnie Cooper (Spokane); his ex-wife Vicki Messinger (Pullman); and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Dave loved the family get togethers at Deer Lake and participating in the annual 4th of July parade there for the past 11 yearsâ??riding on his 4-wheeler, decked out in his Abe Lincoln hat and beard, and surrounded by his nieces and nephews. He will be missed and remembered by all that knew his pleasant disposition and delightful chuckle. There will be no public funeral service at his request. Dave will be inurned in a memorial bench at his parent's gravesite in Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley. Community Cremation & Funeral Spokane Valley 13127 E.
