November 04, 2017 - November 04, 2017

HOADLEY, DANIEL L SR Daniel Lee Hoadley Sr passed away November 4, 2017. Dan was born January 15, 1932, the child of Martin and Annie Hoadley. Dan was raised in Otis Orchards and graduated from Otis Orchards High School in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Marion Grace McKittrick, in 1951, a marriage that endured for 64 years until her passing in 2016.Dan served in the US Navy for 21 years (1951-1972). He served on the USS Dixie (AD-14) and the USS Prairie (AD-15) and had many duty stations in the US. He retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his retirement from the military Dan and Marion returned to Otis Orchards and together they rolled up their sleeves and built their own home. They enjoyed reestablishing family ties and friendships that had been interrupted by his military service. Dan had a lifelong love of learning and returned to school earning a Masters Degree (summa cum laude) in Clinical Psychology in 1981 from Eastern Washington University. Dan and Marion shared a lifelong dream to live in Alaska and he accepted a position as a school psychologist in Ketchikan. He spent many happy years serving that community and devoted his spare time to boating, fishing and chopping firewood. Lots and lots of firewood. Eventually they chose to further their Alaskan dream and relocated to a much more rural locale. Their time living at Pippin Lake was savored as "frosting on their Alaska cake". Dan and Marion returned to their Otis Orchards home in 2000. Dan worked for the Lakeland School District in Idaho at different times from 1992 until 2004. This was Dan's last effort in his profession and it was richly rewarded by the results achieved with his kids and the professional associations and friendships he formed. Dan is survived by sons Daniel L. Hoadley Jr of Glennallen AK and Dennis A Hoadley and his wife Maxine of Palmer AK, and daughters, Jana C Misztal of Spokane WA and Jennifer S Hinkle and her husband Alan of Angier NC. Two brothers, Rick Reiber of Metaline Falls WA and Dusty Reiber of Battle Ground WA. 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his wife Marion and sister Freddie Nearing, daughter Vicki Brown (nee Allen. nee Bailey) and brothers Bill Hoadley and Ben Hoadley. No immediate service is planned but a service/remembrance is planned for Summer 2018. All Welcome. Date to be announced.
