December 13, 1929 - August 26, 2017
Our loved and cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Wife, Aunt and Friend went home to be with our Lord Jesus on the evening of August 26th surrounded by her loving family. - Corinne was born on December 13, 1929 in her Grandmother Mattie Palmers home in Palouse, WA. The family moved from Palouse to Wilbur where she attended grade school before moving to Ritzville and then to Spokane where she graduated from West Valley High School. She played the trumpet in the schools band and loved the big band music of the era. Especially Jimmy Dorsey and Glen Miller. - After graduation, she worked at J.J. Newberys in downtown Spokane and one of the first thing she bought was a combination phonograph and radio so she could play the music she loved over and over. She attended Kinnman Business University and was the first one-handed typist to be enrolled and she rose to the challenge and became as adept as any two-handed typist. After graduation, she went to work for Carter Miller for 15 years and then worked at Norco Heating until retiring. She always kept herself busy and loved to raise, breed and train Brittney Spaniel puppies. - She was active in P.E.O. A philanthropic Education Organization that celebrates the advancement of womens education to help young women by offering scholarships, grants and awards for them to attend college to motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. - She was preceded in death by her mother Wilma Rothrock, father Louie Rothrock and brother Marvin Scott. She is survived by her husband Charles Gillingham, son Aaron Gillingham, step-children Donald Gillingham (Erin) and Diane Marsh. Sisters Gloria Baker (Jerry) and Sharon Wright. Numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews who all loved and adored her. - Memorial Service will be held at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene on 15515 E. 20th on Saturday September 16th at 1 pm with a light lunch reception to follow. Please donate to the Hospice House of Spokane in lieu of sending flowers.
