Colleen Ann Rypien

June 13, 1961 - September 30, 2021

God welcomed a kind, caring, unselfish, beautiful angel into heaven as Colleen Ann Rypien left this world on September 30, 2021, as her sister Shannon was holding her hand. Colleen was born in Calgary, Alberta Canada on June 13, 1961, to her parents Robert (Bob) Rypien and Patricia (Terry) Rypien. The family moved to Spokane, WA at a young age where Colleen attended Westview Elementary School, Salk and Glover Middle Schools and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1979. Although Colleen had many challenges in life, she always met each and every challenge with a smile and a determination to always remain a faithful servant to her family and her faith. Collen had an angelic voice, and you would consider yourself fortunate if you ever heard her sing a Patsy Cline song, a Church Hymn or a Christmas Carol. Colleen was very proud of her family as she would brag to the wonderful caregivers at St. Josephs Care Center. Colleen’s smile, laugh, beautiful blue eyes, mischievous sense of humor, unbelievable memory of family history and stories, and her caring and loving spirit will be missed immensely. Colleen is survived by her brothers Mark, Tim (Julie), Dave (Lynda) and sister Shannon (Mike d. 2020), nieces; Ambre, Angela, Brigid, Keara, Lauren, Kami and Sydney, nephews; Tyler, Brett, Andrew (d. 1998) and Dane, great-nieces; Malayah and Merrick and great-nephew; Mekhi. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Terry Rypien. - The funeral mass will commence at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 6th at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd., Spokane, WA. 99208. Father Tim Hays will preside over the celebration. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to what was a special place for Colleen, Assumption Parish.
