Cody Brett Carlson

Forever 18. Forever Loved. Forever Missed.
Cody Brett Carlson, 18, of Spokane Valley, WA, passed unexpectedly at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Monday, October 5th 2026.
The Lord called Cody home, leaving behind his family and countless friends who will forever carry his memory. He was deeply loved by his parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all who were blessed to know him.
Cody was born to Cody Carlson and Vanessa Plazola in Pendleton, OR. Growing up, he loved to play football and watch WWE. Always being a die-hard Seahawks fan, one of his favorite pastimes was watching them play on Sundays with his dad. Into his teen years, he spent his time with family and building everlasting friendships.
Cody truly loved life. He had a big heart and a special way of making people feel welcome and accepted. He was blessed to be born into a large family. Family truly meant everything to him. He loved his siblings Eric, Charlee, Cali, Niko, and Grayson more than words could express.
He had built a beautiful relationship with his stepmother Ashlee, as she helped him build a relationship with God. Cody often looked for advice and guidance from his aunts, Michelle and Sabrina, as well as his uncles, Michael and Jose. Cody had a bond with all of his cousins and loved them like siblings. The bond they all shared will forever be treasured.

He also cherished time spent with his grandparents. Although preceded in death by his grandma Linda and grandfather Jose, he tried to always make time for his grandma Judy, grandma Lalani, and grandfather Kevin.
Cody also had a gift for making his friends feel like family, always making room for others and ensuring those around him knew they belonged. His laughter was contagious and his love of life always drew others in.
At just 18 years old, Cody had so much life ahead of him, with dreams to chase and memories yet to make. Though his time on earth was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
Although we cannot understand why the Lord called Cody home so soon, we find comfort in our faith and in knowing he is resting in God's loving arms. We pray that God brings comfort and strength to his mom, dad, stepmom, grandparents, siblings, all his family, and his many friends as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Cody will live on through the stories we share, the memories we treasure, and the love that will forever remain in our hearts.
Cody’s Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday November 21st 2026 at 3:00 PM at Valley Real Life, 1831 S. Barker Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99016.
