Charles Joseph Wright

March 10, 1944 - November 04, 2021

Charles “Chuck” Joseph Wright passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021, at the age of 77. Chuck is survived by Patricia Wright, his wife of 33 years; his sons Bill (Joyce) and Kevin (Cynthia) Wright; his daughter Beth Crossman; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Chuck was born March 10, 1944, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to William and Mary Alice Wright, growing up alongside foster brother Arnold. When Chuck was in high school, the family moved to Clarkston, WA, and it was here that he discovered his love of aviation. Chuck owned his first airplane before his first car. He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1962. Chuck moved to Spokane to attend Spokane Community College, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science in 1964, and to study aircraft mechanics. It was in Spokane that Chuck met and married Janice “Jan” Clark. They had two boys: William “Bill” Dale and Kevin Scott. The family moved around Eastern Washington following his career as a civil aviation mechanic, including teaching aircraft mechanics at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. The couple later divorced but always remained friends. In 1988, Chuck met Patricia “Pat” McFarland while working as an aircraft mechanic at Felts Field Aviation, where she was the front desk manager. They soon married, adding her and her young daughter Beth to the family. Aviation never left Chuck’s heart, and he worked for various employers in the industry in Spokane, including Felts Field, Flight Craft, Merlin Products, and the FAA, finally working for and retiring from EDMO Distributors in July of 2017. Technology was a lifelong pastime. Chuck built the family a color TV, worked with numerous computers, and loved working on his motorcycles and later his Can-Am Spyder. He was a member of the Spyder Ryder of America club – SpoKan Am Chapter. He loved riding as often as possible with Bill, Kevin, Beth, and Pat. Family and friends were always a priority. He would often volunteer to help someone with their computer problem, house project, or car maintenance. Chuck was a loving adopter of the family dogs, with Bear, Mickey, and Lucy having a special place in his heart. Because of this, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Spokane Humane Society in his name. On Friday, November 19, 2021, the family will hold an open house from 12:30 - 2:30 PM. Please come to the Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 12116 East 16th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA, to celebrate our friend Chuck.
