Cathleen (Cathy) Hansen, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at The Grand at Spokane. Born in Long Beach, California in 1948, Cathy grew up in Lake Oswego, Oregon, before moving to Spokane as a teenager. Cathy was a 1966 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane before attending the Deaconess School of Nursing and becoming a registered nurse, working in pediatrics. In 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas R. Hansen, and started a family, devoting her time to raising her daughters. Cathy enjoyed spending time on her property cultivating beautiful gardens, loved to cruise with her family and friends, and developed close friendships that lasted for many years, including life long friends from high school, Ham on Regal friends, and most recently with her various game groups. Cathy is survived by her two daughters Heather Shilley (Kevin) and Heidi Rosenberry (Patrick), brother Clay Carney (Debby), and six beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Hansen, and her parents, James S. Carney Jr. and Carlene Carney.Â
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Cathy are invited to celebrate and share memories during a brief service with refreshments and appetizers followed by time to visit and reminisce. Please join us on Saturday, August 29th at 4:00pm, The Steam Plant Rooftop Event Space, 159 South Lincoln Street Ste 1, Spokane. Cathy's family would like to thank the staff at The Grand at Spokane and Hospice of Spokane for their compassionate care.
