Carroll Francis Scott

September 01, 1944 - January 28, 2013

SCOTT, Carroll Francis Carroll Francis ""Scotty"" Scott died Monday, January 28 at Avalon Care Center where he had been resident since November, 2011. Mr. Scott was born in Spokane on September 1, 1944. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1962. He joined the Navy a year later and served for eight years. He was proud of his service as a Machinists Mate aboard two submarines, The Scamp and the Hawkbill. In 1972 Mr. Scott entered his life's employment as a miller, first with Centennial Mills and later with Archer Daniels Midland. He retired in 2006. He served the Deer Park Fire Department as a volunteer for eighteen years and was the last Fire Chief before the city merged its service with the county. Eleven of those years he also served aboard Deer Park ambulances and was a Red Cross instructor. He enjoyed using a metal detector and belonged to the Northwest Treasure Hunters Club. He was also, for many years, a member of the Deer Park VFW. He attended the Open Door Congregational United Church of Christ in Deer Park. Scotty leaves his beloved wife, Linda, who attended him through the long struggle with cancer that took his life at the age of sixty-eight. Preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Scott, Mr. Scott leaves two other sisters: Catherine Barnett of Greenacres and Colleen Abbott of Deer Park; and two brothers: Charles Scott of Deer Lake and Clifford Scott of Sequim. He is the father of Randolph (Mariah) of Deer Park; Carol Jean (Mike) McNeil of Hayden Lake, Idaho; David (Patty) of Newman Lake; Donald (Amber) of El Paso, Texas; and Tonya Ward of Spokane. He is grandfather to fifteen grandchildren.
