Carey Susan Gump, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and niece, passed from this life on May 27, 2026, having touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on August 1, 1948, Carey lived a life full of devotion, dedication, and love.

On October 16, 1976, Carey found her lifelong partner when she married David Gump. Together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter, a foundation that would grow into a family she cherished above all else.

Carey dedicated over 50 years of her life to the medical field, a testament to her compassionate nature and her unwavering commitment to the care and well-being of others. Her career was not merely a profession — it was a reflection of who she was: someone who gave of herself tirelessly and graciously.

Carey had a wonderful zest for life and the simple pleasures it offered. She could often be found relaxing by her pool, savoring a cold Diet Coke, or seated at the cribbage table where she took particular delight in besting her family at the game — a victory she never tired of claiming. But as much as she loved those moments, nothing compared to the joy she found in the company of the people she loved most.

Carey Susan Gump is survived by her husband, David Gump; her daughter, Angie Earley; her daughter, Shirley Sams (James); her son, Eric Gump (Brandy); her grandchildren; and her great-grandchild. She will also be deeply missed by her beloved nephew, CJ, and her beloved niece, Shellie, along with her extended family who cherished her dearly.

A loving mother, devoted wife, and faithful caregiver —

she will be forever in our hearts.
