Boone Cameron passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026 at age 90, in Spokane, Washington. Born June 8, 1936 and raised in Gifford, Washington, Boone was the youngest of five sons of Tom & Effie (Ward) Cameron. Boone’s love of the outdoors came naturally and was evident in his life-long love of hunting, camping, fishing, woodworking, taking the back roads, and adventuring to find the best huckleberry patches or add to his collection of found treasures. Most adventures have been memorialized by his great storytelling.
Boone and Ann Kohlstaedt married on May 26, 1956 in Colville and began married life in the Colville area welcoming three daughters and one son over the years. They lived in Wilbur, Davenport, and Spokane before settling in rural Deer Park area in 1968. Family life was entwined with the Camerons, Kohlstaedts, and many long-time friends who joined in the adventures.
Boone attended Hunter Schools before joining the workforce first on a logging crew and eventually as a valued hired hand on Lincoln County wheat farms. He joined the Operating Engineers Union Local 370 in 1967, earning a reputation as a highly-regarded backhoe operator over his 59-year membership.
Boone was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Cecil, Vernon, Norman, and Roy.
Boone is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann; their children Deborah Baker, Colleen Lacey, Larry (& Kim) Cameron, and Janice (& Scott) Long; eight devoted grandchildren, Nancy Vandehey, Tyson Baker, Benjamin Lacey, Jillian Lowers, Kevin Cameron, Jesse Lehman, Sarah Sowards, and Tiffany McNamee; eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Our family extends much gratitude to the wonderful staff at Rockwood Memory Care in Spokane for the extraordinary care Boone received in his last months.
Family and friends will gather for celebration of life in upcoming weeks.
