Beverly Ann Markson of Liberty Lake, WA passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2017 surrounded by family. - Beverly was born September 7, 1930 in Golden, British Columbia, Canada to Ole Olson Birkeland and Jeanne Linton Birkeland. She grew up in Kamloops, BC and graduated from Kamloops High School. In 1952 she received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Manitoba. She then traveled to the United States and completed her internship in Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Soon thereafter she met, the love of her life, Tom. They were married in 1957 and just recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. - They welcomed 3 children into their lives; Carol Anne, Jeanne Linton and Kurt Thomas. In 1969, they headed West for job opportunities that brought them to the Spokane Valley and Portland, OR. Upon returning to Spokane, they settled at Liberty Lake, WA and called this home for 43 years. Bevs greatest joy was her family. Tom and Bevs partnership, love and devotion to one another and their faith, carried them through the many challenges of life including the passing of their beloved son, Kurt. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, painting, quilting, cooking and being involved with her grandchildren. Bev was grateful for the many friends and neighbors she and Tom shared on 23rd Street in the Valley, at Liberty Lake and with the Gromet Group food, travels and much laughter. - Beverly is survived by her husband Tom, sisters Olava (Fred) Nesbitt and Marion (Halvor) Lofthaug, her two daughters Carol Markson and Jeanne (Partick) Nave and daughter-in-law Catherine (Patrick) Cronin. Its with great love she remembers grandchildren Keegan, Olivia, Luke, Matthew, Michael and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Ole and Jeanne Birkeland, siblings Margaret Lawson and Ole Birkeland Jr., and son Kurt Markson. - The Markson family would like to thank the caring staff at Hospice of Spokane. - Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 20th at 3:00 pm, Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, 3223 N Marguerite Rd, Spokane WA 99212.
