September 02, 1933 - September 24, 2013
CHRISTNER, Beverly Ann Just days after a joyful celebration for her 80th birthday, Mom's health took a more serious turn. Thanks to Hospice of Spokane for their kindness and peace of mind, and allowing Mom to stay home surrounded by family and friends. Born September 2, 1933, in Gem, Idaho, to Joseph and Christine (Paulsen) Welling. She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter. All of Beverly's brothers predeceased her: Dale, Donald and Glen Welling. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Raymond Christner and two sisters-in-law, Isabelle Welling and Clara (Mel) Eash. Mom lived in Wallace where they moved when she was an infant until she was nine when they moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho. Mom was in high school when a very handsome young man from Indiana arrived in Spirit Lake. He'd been discharged from the Army in Florida and was hitchhiking when he was picked up by a couple from Spirit Lake, Idaho. They liked him so much, they convinced him to come home with them and work in their store. Mom and Dad were married in 1950 and celebrated their 60th anniversary just prior to Dad's death in 2010. Beverly was a voter registrar for many years. She loved the Mariners and the Seahawks and especially those Zags! She created some beautiful crocheted items. Mostly Mom loved her family and she will be sorely missed by those who loved her. There are four children, plus one: Karyn (and LTC, Craig Heimbigner), Ricky (Brenda) Christner, Jodee Christner, Scott (Jolayne) Christner and Roger Smith, (deceased) and Susan Smith. There are eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and another due in Feb 2014; and one great great grandson. We would also like to acknowledge our cousin, Patricia Parsons who adopted Mom as hers when her mother died. We also would like to acknowledge Nadine Ogden
