May 05, 1931 - October 12, 2018
Betty Jean Knobel passed away October 12, 2018 in Fairfield, Washington. She was born May 5, 1931 to Erwin and Naomi Knobel, in Latah, Washington. While growing up she worked in the Knobel Mercantile and post office to help the family business. She attended Latah High School, and went on to Whitworth University, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Betty worked as a bookkeeper at the Spokane Lithographing Company for nine years. Shortly thereafter, she ventured to Seattle, Washington before moving to Orlando, Florida where she was a staff accountant for twenty-eight years at the C.P.A. firm of Price Waterhouse Coopers. Betty retired in 2003, and returned to the Pacific Northwest making her home in the Spokane Valley to be near family. Betty was an avid reader of Christian literature and because of her record keeping skills, she was inspired to keep track of all she read organized on index cards. Her books numbered into the thousands. Most importantly, was her 'little brown book' in which Betty recorded all the birthdays and anniversaries of her family members throughout the generations. On each day, Betty would open this book and pray over those whose names appeared on the pages for the specific date. She is survived by her three sisters, Geraldine (Jack) Eccles, Shirley (Ken) Reardon, and Wanda (Dean) Lyon; 17 nieces and nephews, 46 grandnieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great-grandnieces and nephews. She is safely now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
