Bertin Ted Theodore Arsenault

January 16, 1926 - April 25, 2013

Born January 16, 1926 in Longview/Kelso, WA to Joseph and Rose Mary Mallette Arsenault, Ted passed away April 25, 2013 in Spokane, WA. He spent his earliest years in Yakima, WA, later moving to Davenport, WA where he attended High School. During his first year of college at Gonzaga he enlisted in the military as a US Army Airman. After his discharge he spent most of his next seventy years in the Spokane area. After the untimely death of his older brother, Ted assumed running his business, Custom Masonry, Inc., and built it into one of the largest masonry construction firms between Seattle and Chicago. The company under his leadership completed such projects as many of the dorms at W.S.U in Pullman, much of the S.F.C.C. campus and the U.S. Federal building in Seattle. In the mid-1970s, Ted started one of the first helicopter service firms in the area, leasing helicopters to area hospitals, the US Forest Service and local news stations. Ted was an active hunter and sportsman, enjoyed travel and collecting art and Native American artifacts. He was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Ted is survived by his sons, Mark, Jeff, and Neil Arsenault; daughters, Lisa and Amy Arsenault, and Mary Buckham; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilifred â??Billâ?, Al, and Joseph; and sisters, Blandine, Rose Mary, Juliette, and Amelia. The family would like to thank Ted's good friend, Pat Hallett and the staff of St. Anthony's Adult Family Home for their kindness and compassionate care of Ted over his last years. He was truly surrounded by love and friendship in his last days. A celebration of Ted's life will be held later this summer for family and friends at Greenwood Memorial Terrace where his remains will be interred.
