Obituary for Terry Toby
On July 16, 2021, Terry Benjamin Toby, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully
at his home in Spokane, Washington at the age of 73.
Born December 27, 1947 to Benjamin Kenneth Toby and Mildred Berniece Toby (née Andersen)
in Bowbells, North Dakota, Terry spent his childhood in Columbus, Montana before joining the
United States Army where he served as a Morse code operator during the Vietnam War. After
his time in the Army, he moved to Southern California where he got married and began his
career in real estate which spanned more than 45 years. After spending time in California and
Lake Tahoe he eventually settled in Spokane, where he co-parented his three beautiful children
with his ex-wife. In his spare time, Terry lived an active lifestyle; he was a runner, loved playing
basketball (and cheering on the Gonzaga Bulldogs) and was often working on DIY home
projects.
Terry’s warm and generous personality mixed with his dry sense of humor made him such a joy
to be around. He never took life too seriously and you could always count on him to crack a joke
or two to make someone smile. Terry is survived by his sons Jamin and Elan,
daughter Ryel, and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be terribly missed and will always live on in our hearts.
