Sandra "Sandy" L Neil

February 23, 1944 - April 13, 2018

Sandy (Age 74) was born February 23, 1944 in Spokane, WA to Chester and Bonnie Johnson. She attended Rogers High School where she met her loving husband, Larry Neil, when she talked him into a ride to a Young Life meeting. They were married on August 28, 1964 in Spokane, and were married for life. Sandy had two children, David (Kaylin) Neil of Bellevue, WA and Stacy (Frank) Thompson of Spokane. Her grandchildren are Tyler, Ava, Kiley, Connor, Mason and Brooklyn. She loved her family and spent her career as a homemaker. For a brief stint, she picked up an AA Degree as a Library Technician at Spokane Falls Community College and worked for the Intercollegiate School of Nursing. She was a published author of a personal study entitled Our Hendrickson Legacy. Growing up in Spokane, she developed an extensive group of family and friends that will miss her dearly. Sandy’s parents preceded her in death and she is survived by her husband, family and sister, Linda (Johnson) Ashley. She loved camping, playing pinochle with her card club and genealogy. Sandy also acted as co-planner, supervisor and contractor with Larry when they built their house in 1994. She had many friends through the years from her association with the Shetland Sheepdog Club and her own show dogs under Neilcrest Kennels. She was also a lover of bird watching and gardening. Sandy was an example to all of us in the strength she showed in battling cancer in one form or the other since 1995. Her cancer did not define all the things that made her strong in this life. The family would like to thank the extensive assistance that she had in the effort; with the final journey being with Cancer Care Northwest (Dr. Gopaluni), Holy Family (Dr. Gilsdorf) and Hospice of Spokane. Memorial Contributions in Sandy’s memory may be made to Hospice of Spokane, 121 S Arthur St, Spokane, WA 99202. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 11am at the Sunset Chapel inside Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA.
