On Thursday the 4th of December Ruth Anne Peereboom Gustafson passed away at her home in Spokane, WA. She was 76. Ruth was born on July 5th, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI to her parents, John and Emma Peereboom. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry & from the University of Idaho with a Masters degree in Chemistry. After she graduated from U of M, she moved to Idaho Falls, ID, where she worked for Phillips Petroleum, Atomic Energy Division. She went on to work for McDonnell Douglas and Cominco American Electronic Materials Division (which was acquired by Johnson Matthey). Ruth had a passion for literacy, history, archeology and the arts. She was an active member and president of the AAUW, member of the Spokane Archaeological Society, member of the Spokane chapter of the ACM, an avid volunteer for the MAC and taught English as a second language. Ruth enjoyed playing cards with friends, reading books, attending theater, listening to classical music, researching genealogy and spending time with her beloved grandson. Ruth is survived by her ex-husband & best friend, David, son, Jon-Carl, daughter-in-law, Lisa and grandson, Jax. A memorial will take place on Friday, January 9th at 2:00 pm. at the Corbin Center, 827 W. Cleveland. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Ruth's life.
