Richard Edward Heroux

Updated: Jan 25

April 17, 1940 - April 05, 2023

Rich Heroux 4/17/40 – 4/5/23 Rich Heroux was an avid adventurer, who served his country admirably in the Navy, up through the rank of Master Chief. Rich came from a Massachusetts, and an industrious family of three boys, and a daughter. Rich being the oldest joined the Navy early – to see the world. Ron Heroux (Kathy Heroux) has a beautiful extensive family, in Colorado. Bruce Heroux and Carol Heroux were the younger brothers and sister. Rich was blessed with three children, Cheryl (Heroux) Doyle, Brian, and Michael Heroux. He also joined forces with Dean and Derrek Greenleaf upon marrying their mom, the amazing and gifted, Judi Greenleaf (Laubscher) in the summer of 1984. Judi was a beloved teacher in Central Kitsap School District for a majority of her teaching career. Judi’s career was one that started as a pioneer with the initial years of Head Start in Eugene, and Portland, Oregon. She preceded, Rich in passing in May of 2019, which was heartbreaking for all. Mike E. Heroux was a student at the University of Washington, and a gifted Unix programmer. [ He also tragically preceded Rich, in 2004.] Together, Judi and Rich had a multitude of wonderful adventures in Wyoming – with Shelly and Dan Rehnke and their supportive, and loving ranching family (Warren and Elizabeth), and in Republic on the shores of Lake Curlew. Anacortes and Spokane were also frequent stops in their lives. Their adventures took them throughout the United States and Canada – either on a Harley, in a corvette, or on a boat. Rich is enshrined with his Republic Brewing hat, (the Stetson wouldn’t fit), in a place of honor at the Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake. His twilight days were filled with grace, support and dignity in thanks to the Crystal Rose House and Hospice of Spokane. Remembrances can be made this Memorial weekend and beyond, with a hearty thanks to the Veterans Cemetery support team in Medical Lake. Or donations made in his name to an organization that he and Judi believed in heartily: https://washingtoncasa.org/ . Fair winds and following seas Rich.
