PEDRO ROLANDO DURRUTHY SR

Pedro Rolando Durruthy Sr, 99, died unexpectedly on Wednesday April 27th 2022 at Sacred Heart Medical Hospital in Spokane, Washington with his granddaughters by his side. He was born October 8th 1922 in Guantanamo, Cuba, the son of Amparo and Rufina (Lara) Durruthy.

Pedro was born in a small city in Cuba and worked on base in Guantanamo Bay, where he met his beautiful wife Mirtha Rosa, they married and moved to Havana and started their family. Eventually the family fled the country and started a new life in the United States. Pedro was separated from them and was sent to Spain. Working there as a printer he made his way back to his family in Boston, Mass. Where after many years the family moved across country to San Diego, California. Where both of their sons married and created families filled with grandchildren for the excited couple in this new city. Just recently Pedro relocated to Spokane, Washington. with his granddaughter Rochelle and her family, where he spent the last month of his life playing with his great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Pedro is predeceased by brothers and sisters, his wife Mirtha Rosa, sons Pedro Rolando Jr and Juan Durruthy.

He is survived by his youngest sister Bertha Hilda Durruthy Lara, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a grandfather to all and greeted everyone with a smile on his face. Pedro Rolando you will be missed, cherished and we will carry you everywhere we go.

A celebration of life will be in October to commemorate his birthday and life, details to follow.
