Margaret Marie Beach Moore

January 15, 1918 - March 27, 2018

Forever a giver, lady of gracious and grateful spirit, hospitable hostess, ceaseless listener, lover of nature, green thumb gardener, devotee of nutrition study and practice, lover of God and His Word, constant learner and reader. This is our Mother! At the age of 100 years and 3 months, God brought Margaret Moore peacefully to her heavenly home. Actually, her body just surrendered, and her soul was ready to meet her Lord. After only 27 years of married life, she lived 48 additional years as a single woman. What were the secrets of her longevity? She has said it was an uncompromising trust in God’s ways and an unyielding to stress. These gave her a strong, quiet spirit. Just a few months before her 100th birthday, she acknowledged she “was getting old!” Even with her limitations of eyesight and changes in hearing, she never complained but was grateful for what she had. Nurses who cared for her at Brookdale Senior Living were very kind to her. - As her children, our fondest early years’ memory was Mom reading the Word of God with a cup of coffee in her hands. Then later we saw her favorite place was outdoors with its beautiful sun. After we left home, we experienced her unending anticipation of our phone calls so she could hear our voices and do more listening! Margaret Moore was born January 15, 1918, in South Haven, Minnesota. When she was two, she, along with her mother, journeyed to the Pacific Northwest to be with her father who was establishing a home near Port Orchard, Washington. Happy were the many days of growing up on a farm with her two younger sisters. Margaret graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to Whitman College for a year. Because of the war years, she then worked in the Seattle area as a bookkeeper and editor. At age 25, she met Dr. Harry Moore, orthodontist and president of Seattle Dental Society, and married him in 1943 in Seattle. Surprised by twins later that year, she then began fulltime motherhood with a vengeance and continued when greeted by another daughter, Carolyn Nicki, two and a half years later. The long-awaited James Kennedy Moore male came many years later in 1958. How the family loved sharing their home with many visitors and youth gatherings. - After her husband’s passing in 1970, Margaret moved to California in 1971 with her 12-year-old son, working in one of the VA hospitals. Later she returned to Washington to make a home for Nicki and work in the Spokane VA hospital. Many happy summers were spent in her garden with friends and family. She loved welcoming her sister Virginia with her husband Bill on their visits. Other joys during her later years were traveling to Scandinavian countries and three trips to Israel. Brookdale Senior Living became her home when she was 94; its residents and staff were exceptional people. As her 3 living children (listed below), along with 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, we rejoice for the years we were given with this wonderful woman and glad she is now in her heavenly home with her family gone before and the Lord she adored. Jim Moore, Carnelian Bay, CA - Jean Pearson, Louisville, KY - M. Gail Wright, Spokane, WA
