Lometa Laura Bendixen

January 30, 1922 - February 10, 2013

BENDIXEN, Lometa Passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2013 at Providence St. Joseph Long Term Care. She was born Jan. 30, 1922 in Wellington, Texas to Wallace and Beryl Smith, seventh of nine siblings and raised on a prosperous cotton farm. Later the family moved to Eagle Idaho, where she developed her journalistic attributes and finished high school. The following spring she went to visit her sister in Republic, WA where she met the love of her life, Frank Robert Bendixen. They married in Nevada Oct. 27, 1941 and headed to Seattle where they started building a family. After a couple years, they had the opportunity to move to the farm in Sumner where they lived for 25 years and raised seven children. During this time she was the secretary for Eastern Star, held the Presidency of the PTA for a number of years plus had odd jobs of which the last was School Bus Driver. When the Highway Dept. called on our family to contribute land for their cause; in March 1970 she and Frank packed us all up, including critters, and headed for the farm in Addy, WA. Quickly making friends she joined the Addy Grange, and started working for the Independent as a comedic columnist, layout artist for the ""All American City"" edition, for which she won an award. The managing editor, Donna Walker praised her talent when she retired in 1973. Preceding her in death is her beloved ""Bob"", parents and all nine siblings. Her seven children are: Constance (Pat) Tibbetts, Spokane, William (Sandy) Bendixen, Sumner, David (Jaquie) Bendixen, Addy, Ronald (Glenna) Bendixen, Woodenville, Thomas (Susan) Bendixen, Antioch, Ca, Elizabeth Friend, Chewelah, Scott (Cindy) Bendixen, Addy along with 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren
