Lillian Ann Vorhees

April 02, 1926 - February 20, 2020

Lillian A.Vorhees (93) went to be with our Lord on Feb. 20, 2020 after a brief stay a the North Spokane Hospice House. Lillian Ann was born to Luis and Anna Vick of Norway on April 2, 1926 in Ferndale Wa. She was the youngest of five children (by a lot) and the only daughter and first child of her family born in the United States. She was the apple of her Daddy's eye, her Mama's darling and well protected by her four older brothers. She resided in Northern Wa. until the summer after high school graduation when she took a trip to Southern Ca. to visit her Brother's church. There she was set up on a blind date with the dashing Willard Vorhees. She immediately fell head over heals for the handsome fella with the beautiful eyes and decided she would not return to Wa! Her parents also relocated to Ca. to remain near to their darling daughter. Willard courted Lillian until June 14, 1947 when they wed at the North Hollywood Assembly of God church were they met, A year and a half later they welcomed their only child, Daughter Anita to their family. Lillian was a professional woman who spent the majority of her career at Lockheed Corp. where she worked as a legal secretary. She and her Husband Willard both retired from Lockheed Corp. in 1981 after nearly 40 years! Upon retirement they relocated further North to Paradise Ca. They resided there for 18 years and were very active in the church. Lillian played the organ and sang in the choir. She and Willard were also very active in the Gleaners Assoc. keeping the church pantry well stocked. In 1999 they move to Spokane Wa. to be near their family. They joined 4th Memorial church where they enjoyed a new group of friends and activities for the "Young at Heart". Lillian loved music, RVing, knitting, spending time with her family & friends and most of all serving the Lord both at home and in the church. Her favorite thing in the world was to hear her family pray. It was the sweetest music to her ears. Lillian was a formidable woman. She was loving, strong, tender and generous in caring for her elderly father for over a decade and her Husband through 18 years of Parkinson's disease. They remained Sweethearts & were married 61 years before he went home to Heaven in 2008. Lillian's positive demeanor, quick wit, can-do attitude, loving care, giant smile and hearty laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her Daughter Anita & Husband Doug Hosler, Grandchildren Khrystyn & Brian Garvey and Kelly & Yana Holm, and Great Grandchildren Renton, Sean, Zak, Adrian & Sofia. In light of the current state of emergency, her Memorial Service is being postponed until a later date
