He was sent to Fairchild A.F.B. in Spokane, Washington where he met and married his wife, Sherrie Sellers in 1965. Larry spent a very long year in Bangkok, Thailand and Tan Son Nhut A.F.B. Vietnam. Upon returning home he moved his family to Rantoul, Illinois to complete his military duty.
When he returned to Spokane he went to work as an electrician for Washington Water Power/Avista where he built and maintained dams and sub-stations all over Washington, Idaho and Montana. When Larry retired, he was asked what he planned to do now. He answered, “Sit on the porch in my rocking chair and maybe at some point, I’ll start rocking."
Larry leaves behind is wife Sherrie, son Rob James, daughters Leisa (Mario) James and Rebecca (Kurt) Tusberg, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and sisters Sharry McLean and Carol Bussard. He was preceded in death by his son Michael James and his parents. There will be no service at Larry’s request.
