Kjrsten Courtney Smith

September 08, 1986 - February 06, 2018

The light on earth dimmed a little with the passing of Kjrsten Smith (Age 31) on February 6, 2018. She was born in Walla Walla, WA on September 8, 1986 to Dwayne and Tamara Smith. In 1992, Kjrsten and her mom would make a change in their lives and move to Spokane. This began a journey that created an unbreakable bond between the two of them. Many would come to be included but at the core was Kjrsten and her Mom. They would shortly meet Marc Hensley, who would embrace them as a husband and a father. How did we all get so lucky to have Kjrsten Courtney Smith in our lives? Her gentle soul was full of sunshine, love and caring, for all of those that she met. What an honor it was to know her. She was loved beyond words. You could always count on her to be your cheerleader. If you needed anyone on your side, she was there. Kjrsten graduated from Ferris High School in 2005 and SCC in 2011, which she attended with her mom. She was employed by the Masonry Center for the last 5 years, where her customers fell in love with her too. As you all know, Kjrsten’s love for the lonely shopping cart and the beat-up traffic cone made for wonderful pictures, and so much laughter. Traffic cones and shopping carts will always be reminders of Kjrsten, and now will bring a gentle smile to our face when we see them. With her love of photography, she showed us the beauty in the ugly. Her love for Nikk and Anna was beyond measure. Family was the most important thing to her. Kjrsten is preceded in death by her father, Dwayne Smith. She is survived by her parents Marc and Tami Hensley, brother Nikk, sister Anna, and brother Christopher, grandparents Susan (Hee Hoo) Kirkeby and Spencer (Pa) Hampton, Jack and Lois Hensley, Uncle Todd (Lisa) Smelcer, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and of course all of her wonderful friends. The family extends their love and gratitude for all the support and love from her friends. A Celebration of Kjrsten’s Life will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Memorial Park, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kjrsten’s name to the Spokane Humane Society or to the Adopt a Manatee Program. Until we meet again, “Je T’aime, Beezoos Embressay”, and remember Big Boo, “Dogs barking can’t fly without umbrella!”
