Joni-Lee Ann Hoffman

January 12, 1982 - August 22, 2021

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, a fire occurred at the house of David, Joni, Skye Hoffman, Kathy Scott, and Janet Dahlheim. The Hoffmans all perished in the fire with Janet Dahlheim receiving burns on both arms and Kathy Scott escaping injury. David Louis Hoffman was 44 years old and was born in La Mesa, California December 16, 1976, died August 22, 2021, in Spokane, Washington. David is survived by his mother, Christine Hoffman of Burlington, WA, Nancy Hamilton of Mount Vernon, WA, and Bonnie Gautreaux of Lighthouse Point, Florida. David lived in Marysville, WA when he met Joni-Lee. They became fast friends and quickly fell in love. They had a baby, Skye Rose Hoffman, December 28, 2003. David loved his family. David and Joni-Lee married October 31, 2017, in Ellensburg, WA. When Skye was older both David and Skye loved to play computer games. Joni Lee-Ann (Zehner) Hoffman was 39 years old and was born January 12, 1982, in Oregon City, OR. Joni is survived by her mother, Kathy Scott, Spokane, WA, father, Wade Zehner, Milwaukee, OR, Aunt Janet Dahlheim, Spokane, WA, Verna Zehner Ourada Zella Zehner King Smith, uncles, Gary Blanton, Bowie, MD, Patrick Blanton, Bonnie Lake, WA, Carlos Zehner of Arizona, sisters Amie Wilkie Stewart Milwaukee OR, Mikayla, Licia Hopel. Joni was preceded in death by her brother Gregory Owen Jung and stepfather Richard Lung. Joni passed away August 22, 2021, in Seattle, WA at Harborview Burn Unit. Joni loved writing poetry and her poems were published. Joni was so very proud of her poems being published. She was a lifetime member of the International Poets Society. Joni also liked helping the homeless while she lived in Cle Elum, WA. Joni worked as a caregiver in Ellensburg, WA. Joni loved her cats Buddy, Thor, and Freya. They also perished in the fire. Skye Rose Hoffman was 17 years old and was born December 28, 2003, in Everett, WA. Passed away with her parents August 22, 2021, in Spokane, WA. Skye is survived by her grandmothers, Kathy Scott, Spokane, WA, Christine Hoffman Burlington, WA, grandfather Wade Zehner, great grandma, Nancy Zehner, great aunts, Janet Dahlheim, Spokane, WA, Verna Zehner Ourad, Zella Zehner, King Smith, great uncles, Gary Blanton, Bowie, MD, Patrick Blanton of Bonney Lake, WA, Carlos Zehner and numerous other relatives. Skye attended Rogers High School in Spokane, WA. Skye would have been a senior this year. Skye loved her music. Her favorite bands were Green Day and Skillet. Recently Skye started taking guitar lessons so she can write a song for her best friend, Kim. Skye loved going to school so she could be with her best friends and teachers. Skye loved naming the cars that the family had; Nala, Hermes (mom’s car), and Rosie (grandmother’s car). Skye had a dog named Bear which she loved very much. Skye took Bear on walks together. Bear also passed away with Skye. When Skye was born her father went to build a bear shop and got a lion for her. Skye took Asland her lion everywhere she went. Funeral services have been scheduled for September 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm Sunset Chapel 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA. Masks are required.
