Obituary for Grace Elisabeth Fairhurst
FAIRHURST, Grace Elisabeth

Grace E. Fairhurst passed away on October 10, 2021 at the age of 94. Grace was born in Lethbridge in 1926, the oldest of two children to Robert and Beth Baldry. She was raised in the small community of Coaldale. It was in Coaldale that she met and married Lyle H Fairhurst, older brother to her life-long best friend Faye Oshiro, a union that lasted 66 years until his death in 2017. They had two boys, Craig and Kevin.
In her youth, Grace played piano and preformed Highland Scottish dancing. In adult life she loved to go dancing with her husband Lyle, enjoyed solving various cross word and picture puzzles, read murder mysteries and spy novels, and watch mysteries on television. She was an avid Bridge player with her friends Tiny, Janet, and Barbara. Grace enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska with her husband.
Professionally, she worked in the Coaldale Post Office when her Father was Post Master, five years at the J. C. Penney in downtown Spokane, became a real estate broker first at Hege and then with Lyle in their own real estate office of Fairhurst & Associates, and finally worked six years with Consumer Research.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law Thelma and Jack Elliott, Faye and Earl Foxall, brother-in-law Jim Oshiro, brother-in-law Murray Edwards, nephews Doug Foxall and Bill Tomaras. Grace is survived by sons Craig, Kevin and daughter-in-law Linda Fairhurst, sister Roberta Edwards, brothers-in-law Russell and Doug Fairhurst, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service when Grace’s remains are interred in a family plot in Lethbridge.
