Gene Darall Fiksdal

January 12, 1930 - June 16, 2017

Gene (Age 87) went home to be with the Lord on June 16th, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was a Spokane resident since the age of 15. Gene was born in Werner, ND on January 12, 1930. He was the son of Paul and Susan Fiksdal. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra Fiksdal; Gene completely adored Sandra. She was Gene's angel and he was her hero. He is also survived by a son, Steven Fiksdal (Kelly) of Federal Way, WA; two daughters Susan Powell of Scottsdale, AZ and Sherry Anderson (Lee) of Post Falls, ID, six grandchildren; Galen Satterlee (Leslie), Steffanie Malbrough (Mike), Kailee Simons (Kevin), Sara Fiksdal, Seth Anderson and Luke Anderson, 4 great-granddaughters; Paige and Gwen Satterlee, Ava and Ella Malbrough, sister; Donna Constance, brothers-in-law; Robert Whipps (Correne) and James Whipps (Cindy). Gene graduated from Cheney High School, Eastern Washington University and earned a Master's Degree from Whitworth College. He was an educator for 30 years with Spokane School District 81 and filled the positions of teacher, coach, administrator and retired as Principal of Shaw Junior High. Gene loved his family immensely and was blessed with many long-term friendships. His hobbies were fishing, playing golf and spending his summers at Priest Lake, ID. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St, Spokane, WA. Gene's family wants to extend their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the compassionate, loving staff at Riverview Care Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Central Lutheran Church or Union Gospel Mission.
