Dewey Dean Denver, age 78, of Spokane, Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Dewey was born in Ashland Wisconsin on December 5, 1944, to Donald “Jack” and Kathleen Denver. Dewey grew up in Cumberland Wisconsin where he attended elementary, middle and high school and worked diligently on his family’s dairy farm. Dewey graduated high school 1962 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1963 to 1969 on aircraft carriers USS Roosevelt and the USS Saratoga consecutively. He took great pride in serving his country and made many fond memories in his travels with the Navy. He spent the next few years going to school and working in Wisconsin. He then decided to travel west to Idaho where he could enjoy the beautiful mountain air. He was hired by Bucyrus-Erie in Pocatello, Idaho in 1976 and soon met the love of his life, Linda. They were married in 1977 and he adopted her five children, ages 5 to 14. They lived in Pocatello, Idaho, American Falls, Idaho Challis, Idaho and Winnemucca, Nevada eventually settling in Spokane Washington. Dewey was a master welder and served every employer with an impeccable work ethic. Dewey took great pride in all his work both on the job and at home. He was a master gardener, and his yard and properties were always immaculately kept. Home was his happy place, along with sharing his beautiful life with his lovely wife of 45 years. Dewey was an ardent lover of coffee. He would travel often to his neighborhood Starbucks, having sweet conversations with baristas and others there. He is now in heaven enjoying a cup of coffee with his sweet mama and taking in all the beautiful sights and sounds and visiting with all that have gone before. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law’s Bobby Jones, Gary Jester, Teddy Ray Jones, granddaughter Chelsea Bailey and grand-niece Bethany Jones, and his beloved mother-in-law Barbara Jones Harman and grandnephew Jacob Kelly.
