David Richard Sandvig

March 23, 1938 - November 16, 2018

After a long, adventurous, and spirit-filled life, on November 16, 2018 David Sandvig entered heaven to be with the Lord. Dave “Zil” was a unique, one-of-a-kind man, who touched so many lives in a positive way. Everyone around Dave would be captivated by his heartwarming smile and sparkle in his eyes. Dave never met a stranger and you could feel his love in every situation. Although he was born in Missoula, Montana and lived the “western outdoor life” as a Cub Scout, Eagle Scout, and avid outdoorsman, Dave would tell everyone he met that Santa Monica was “the place it all began.” It was Southern California where Dave grew into a handsome adult and met his beautiful wife, Sandi (San). Dave and San raised their three lovely daughters near the beach and close to the desert where they spent many family outings together. Dave then moved his family to Spokane, Washington. Once there, Dave knew in his heart that Spokane was where he would stay. Dave had many talents and skills from Retail Management, Maintenance Engineer, General Contractor, Stockbroker, Lumber Salesman, and out of nowhere, a Phlebotomist. In his last career, he would bring smiles to all his patients with his warm personality, fun stories and never-ending sense of humor. His big, booming voice would assure his patients that they were safe in his care. Even with the successes in his professional career, what kept Dave rooted in Spokane was its beautiful surroundings. Dave loved the outdoors and had a passion for hunting, fishing, boating, beekeeping, scuba diving and jet skiing. His exuberance for life was contagious, he lived it to the fullest and he always seemed to have more energy than everyone around him. Dave will undoubtedly have a lively reunion in heaven with his father, mother, two brothers, and sister. Dave is survived by his wife Sandi, his daughters Debby Budik, Shari Dougherty (Michael), and Laurie Oliver. 2 Granddaughters, Rachel and Olivia, and 7 Grandsons, Joshua, Gabriel, Jacob, Joseph, Christopher, Jesse and Cameron. Services will be held at the Sunset Chapel in Fairmont Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, Washington at 1:00pm on Saturday, Dec 1. For You, O Lord, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands. Psalms 92:4
