He was born on March 8, 1946 in Missouri City, MO, son of the late Freel Sanders and Thora Arlene Edwards. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1964.

He is survived by his six children and fourteen grandchildren; his daughter Anneliese Edwards and son Nicolas Moore; his son Charles and Amy Edwards and children Claire, Lauren, Addisen, and Cole; his daughter Carrie and Bryan Dempsey and children Corey, Grant, and Ashlynne; his son Christopher and Ronda Edwards and children Owen, Marlee, Paris, and Ella; his son Curtis and Brenna Edwards and daughter Athena; his daughter Cynthia and Ben McCaleb and son Finley. He is also survived by his former wives; Barbara Edwards mother of Anneliese; Linda Edwards mother of Charles, Carrie, Christopher, Curtis, and Cynthia.

Charlie was excellent with his hands and had a knack for mechanics and science, even as a child. He loved farming in his early years and moved into a life of working in diesel mechanics. He was known to tinker in his shed for hours. His favorite past time was salmon fishing and hunting, especially the last ten years of life in the Pacific Northwest. He would camp for weeks at a time, with his cherished companion, Maxwell. He leaves behind his beloved second Labrador, Max. Charlie had a contagious laugh with an eccentric, passionate personality. He was hardworking, tough as nails and unconditionally loved his children, grandchildren, and two dogs.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Missouri City Christian Church, 412 Main St., Missouri City, MO 64072.

“Into the field I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” Rest in peace, Charlie.
