Charles Harold Smith

February 18, 1951 - June 10, 2014

SMITH, Charles H. February 18, 1951- June 10, 2014 Charles H. Smith (Chuck), 63, of Spokane, WA, died June 10th at Deaconess Medical Center after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. Chuck was born in Spokane, WA and attended Lewis & Clark High School. He voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army at age 19 and served honorably in the Vietnam War. Sergeant Smith was stationed in Da Nang in 1969-1970. After returning from Vietnam, Chuck was hired by ADT Security Systems where he loyally served the Spokane community and outlying areas for 40 years. Chuck's hard work and dedication to ADT, on and off the clock, earned him regional and national awards. Chuck was skilled at installation and programming and loved to have a ""blue print"" for his jobs. He had a spreadsheet for everything. He enjoyed his dog, Mina, working with model trains, and coin collecting. Never in pursuit of acknowledgement or esteem, Chuck's thoughtfulness, generous spirit, and humility will be sorely missed. His great sense of humor and compassionate eyes could lighten any heart. He joins in peace his father, Charles H. Lane and brother, Pat Smith. He is survived by his mother, Dora Powell; his step-daughter, Meghan (Matt) Wallblom; grandchildren, Simon, Cecilia, Luke, Matthew and Anna; brothers: Mike Smith, Randy Smith, and Kevin (Amanda) Lane; sisters: Diane (James) Wright and Gail Smith; nieces and nephews: Michael Jr., Jesse, Jonathon, Gary, Kayleen, Lisa, Alex, Iresha, Ben, Branden, Stephen, Kate, Sarah, and Anthony. He will be missed dearly by his family, numerous friends, neighbors, and ADT/Tyco co-workers. Graveside services will be held Saturday June 21, 2014 at 1:00 at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99205. Reception immediately following at the Swinging Doors, 1018 W. Francis Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.
