Barry Miles Baun

May 22, 1935 - August 31, 2016

The “Bear” was called home to Heaven the evening of August 31 surrounded by family. He was born to Thomas and Dorothy (Madsen) Baun in Blue Creek, WA and grew up in the Addy and Spokane area, continuing to live throughout Washington and North Idaho. Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Clifton (Tip) Baun. Barry received an honorable discharge after serving in the US Coast Guard in 1954. His work over the years included Kaiser, telephone lineman, and his favorite occupation was driving truck which he did for several companies for many years, retiring from Banner Fuel in 2001. He had a special place in his heart for the girls at Wall Street Café, many servers over the years at the Sportsman Café, as well as many other Spokane restaurants and their servers. He made many friends at the Viking Plass and was always willing to help out other residents. He was also an avid Seattle Mariners fan and loved the game of baseball. Barry is survived by his children, Terry & Olivia Sawyer, Julie & Bill Shepard; his grandchildren, Brad & Brittney (Mick); step-grandchildren, Ana (Ricky), Ernesto (Kelly), Erica (Eddie) Taija, & Katelynn; sister Gwen Roll; twin brother Garry Baun; sister-in-law Mary Jo Baun; step-brother Roy Madsen; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Barry was a Christian and attended many churches over the years, but the last few years were spent at the Open Heart Chapel with Pastor Rick and his wife Jan. The family appreciates their prayers and friendship. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:15pm at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery - 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
