Obituary for Barbara Ann McCarthy
Barbara Ann McCarthy, 67, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on December 1, 2021 in Spokane, WA.
Barbara was born September 4, 1954 in Milwaukee, WI to Gerald Grant and Lois Mary McCarthy (nee Bauer); second of seven children. Barbara spent her early years growing up in Townsend, Wisconsin and at age 12 her family moved to Houston, TX where she graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School, afterward she attended nursing school. Barbara worked for Superior Security doing dispatch for a number of years then moved on to office worker for Hercules Concrete Pumping where she eventually became their Office Manager. In 1995 she relocated to Sandpoint, ID where she worked for Coldwater Creek. Barbara rose to the position of Manager of the West Virgina call center. In 2006 Barbara once again changed careers and got her license in insurance and worked for Safeco/Liberty Mutual until her retirement in 2014.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, older sister Mary Ames and brother Brian McCarthy. She is survived by sister Eileen Black of Vancouver, WA; brother Sean McCarthy and wife Jill of Crystal Springs, MS; brother Kevin McCarthy and wife Debbie of Brandon, MS; sister Sarah Miller and husband David of Vancouver, WA; nephew Michael McCarthy and wife Kathy of Spokane, WA; nephew Ryan Ames and brother-in-law Richard Ames of Spokane, WA and several more family and friends.
Barbara loved her family, friends, travel, reading and music. She most loved her creator, God. She touched many hearts and lives and will be sorely missed but we shall see her again in heaven.
