Andrew Thomas Youmans "Youms"

September 03, 1985 - January 25, 2023

Andrew Thomas Youmans "Youms" Andy was born 3 September 1985 at Wenatchee WA to parents; Thomas Kenneth Youmans and Kathy Lynn (‘Hensley’ Youmans) Wadsworth. He was 37 years old when he passed away 25 January 2023 at his home in Spokane WA. Andy went to Elementary school in Chimacum and Port Townsend, WA. He then went to High School at Port Angeles WA until January 2004 when he finished his senior year and graduated from John R Roger’s High School in Spokane WA. He attended college at Spokane Community College while working at VPI Windows and then CD’A Windows. He was a Deans List student! Andy enjoyed wrestling when he was 7 yrs old then later he played Football when he was 9 yrs old. Imagine my surprise when he came running up to me with a helmet and shoulder pads on! WHAT!?!? In my day, the younger boys played FLAG football!! He said PLEASE Mom!! I have to admit it was exciting to watch him sack the quarterback! Many times. Some of his early hobbies were: Stained Glass, he was very creative and made some very beautiful pieces of art! He loved spending time with his Grandmother Elizabeth Youmans making ceramics with her and her kiln! Wood burning. Andy excelled at Precision Machining, calculating a vision into a useful tool or necessary part. He told me he would have liked to make it a career but he would have rather chose the path of creating prototypes. He said he would have loved to invent rather than repair! He also built and set off rockets from the hobby store. He then progressed to building his own rockets, from paper towel tubes, a pen minus the ink, pop bottles from small to 2-liter size and many other random cylindrical items.  He loved music! He loved Spotify and making specific playlists for people. You wouldn’t be surprised when he called you late night or early morning for a rousing game of Name that Tune. Lol. Concerts, movies, he went to his first Broadway Show ‘Wicked’ with his good friend and Hiking/Biking buddy Brittany Garwood. He also entered the Lilac Festival Bloomsday Run with Brittany! He loved working on cars, creative writing, video games, hiking, biking, camping, sight seeing (he loved nature)! Loved to travel, visiting historic interesting places. Cooking and Eating good food, He would say he loved a ‘bite’ and a ‘sip’ eager to discover a new restaurant with a friend. At home he loved a good bonfire & BBQ. Andy adored spending time with friends and family! He loved to send off paper sky lanterns at night, he would write on them… a blessing, a prayer, a hope, a wish or words of wisdom, whatever was on his heart & mind at the moment then light them & watch them disappear into the night. Andy had a real thirst for knowledge and pondering and meditating on the deeper meaning of things🧐. He loved learning new words, but also making his own words, calling himself a wordsmith! He was witty, funny, humble, big-hearted, caring, always taking the side of the underdog or outcast. His smile and laugh were infectious. He loved to make people laugh! He loved his cat Snarf. He sponsored a little girl named Elvia Lizeth in Honduras for the last 12 yrs through World Vision. He enjoyed corresponding with her and sending her gifts throughout the year. He discovered her at a Women of Faith conference. I wasn’t going to be able to go that year because it was the summer he had cancer. He said you can go, mom, I’ll go with you. There were envelopes of kids to sponsor on each chair so he took it up to their booth and signed up. The booth next to World Vision was offering a Woman of Faith tee shirt if you filled out a credit card application. He asked them to sell him the shirt. When they wouldn’t, that nutball filled it out just to get the shirt. He wore that shirt proudly! Lol AND last, but certainly not least, Andrew was a 10 year cancer survivor! Andrew had his battles to overcome besides the cancer, that He told me the week before he passed, he could not have gotten through without his faith in the Lord, Jesus and answered prayers! He was happy and full of life. We are all so shocked to see him gone. Andrew is survived by parents Thomas Kenneth (Joan) Youmans of Electric City WA & Kathy Lynn Hensley (Daniel) Wadsworth of Spokane WA. 3 Brothers: Kenneth Daniel Youmans of Post Falls Id, Patrick Kelly (Angela) Youmans of Post Falls Id, & Joshua Kristopher (Heidi) Evans of Palouse WA. Niece Karysa (Youmans) (Chris) Sowden of Post Falls Id - Great Nephew Xander and Niece Kyla! Nieces Lillian Evans and Annabelle Evans. He loved being an uncle! He called himself the Funcle 🙃Aunt: Dorothy Mae (Youmans) (George B) Shaw of Sequim WA. Cousin Chris M Connors of Sequim WA. Uncle: Kris Lowell (LaDonna) Hensley of Henderson NV. Cousins Chandler Hensley & Olivia Hensley. And many step family and friends who he counted as family! Andrew was preceded in death by all 4 of his grandparents.
