Alice Louise Sturman

April 23, 1937 - April 26, 2022

STURMAN, Alice Giroux April 23, 1937 – April 26, 2022 Alice Giroux Sturman, 85, passed away on April 26, 2022. She was born on April 23, 1937 to Lydia Freda Schell and Victor Arthur Giroux in Lead, South Dakota. She lived and went to school in Wallace, Idaho from first grade to twelfth grade. After graduating from high school in 1955, she attended University of Idaho on a full scholarship majoring in education. She taught in Idaho for over 40 years and impacted the lives of thousands of children. She received her master’s degree in Reading from Whitworth college. Alice’s talents were many. Alice was a gifted seamstress and quilter. She will be remembered by so many from the numerous quilts she made for her extended family and friends. She also donated baby quilts to Vanessa Behan, an organization that provides refuge for abused children. She loved to make cards and enjoyed her monthly card making sessions for many years. She was a long-time golfer and belonged to a women’s golf club. She loved to travel. When she and Larry retired they traveled the world, traveling to more than fifteen countries. Alice was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Alice and Larry Sturman were married after graduating from college and were married for 63 years. They lived in several places in Idaho and spent the last 50 years in Spokane Valley, WA. She is survived by her husband, Larry Sturman, and four children: Kymn Sturman, Kreg Sturman, Kori Carbonaro and Koni Mohland. She was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren and one great grandson: Jerid Sturman, Tyler Sturman, Travis Sturman, Grant Sturman, Lindsay Smith, Hannah Carbonaro, Elijah Carbonaro, Jasmine Harroun, Mattia Carbonaro, Micah Buell, Tristan Buell, and Brody Sturman (age one). A memorial service will be held at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM (12116 E 16th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA). There will be an opportunity at the service for anyone who would like to share their favorite memories of Alice.
