Joanne Elizabeth Austin, 90, of Spokane, died peacefully on September 24, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Francis (Frank) and Alice Green on July 8, 1927. She was married to Clinton Austin March 1948, who preceded her in death.She is survived by her sister; Marianne Connelly, her children; Georgie (Tim) Hess, Larry Austin, Leslie Kestell, and Julie (Larry) Maddox, five grandchildren; Chris Hess, Mike and Matt Kestell, Kyle and Kaitlyn Maddox, and eight great-grandchildren. Joanne was a lifelong, avid Democrat. She was the Chair and State Committeewoman for the Third Legislative District in 2001, and the Spokane County Democratic Woman of the Year in 2003. Interment Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery for family and friends in the near future.
