Obituary for Winona E Green

GREEN, Winona (age 91)

Winona (Winnie) Green was born January 18 1924 in Clear Lake WA to Henry J Myers and Martha E Myers. She entered into rest June 1, 2015 at the age of 91.
She is survived by her 4 children, Kelly Long, Scott Long, Shawn Chinn, Sheri Riehl and spouses. Sisters: Sylvia Osborne and Lenora Johnson, numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Green, her son Lewis Long, her brothers Harvey and Verone Myers.
Winnie spent 10 years volunteering for the Toppenish food Bank after retiring from WA Beef in Toppenish. She loved her ice cream. She would eat it daily, often more than once a day. She also loved her animals and was always willing to take in a stray.
She was very proud of her grandchildren. She loved and appreciated her grandson Daniel Drews who stayed with her and assisted her so she could stay in her own home in her golden years. They shared a special bond. She loved teaching her grandson David Chinn how to fish. She loved having her grandchildren; Daniel, Laura and Sean stay with her in the summers. She looked forward to phone calls and visits with her family.
Once she moved to Spokane Valley WA in 2013, she looked forward to her weekly visits with her Granddaughter Laura Palmquist. She always knew when it was Wednesday and waiting with excitement to have lunch with her. She especially loved seeing her two great grandchildren Serafina and Genevieve. She would always tell everyone that Serafina was the most beautiful baby she ever saw and always asked how her “bald headed” little baby, Genevieve was doing.
The family of Winnie would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rose Pointe Assisted Living for everything they did for mom the two years she lived there. They were kind to her.
Her family would also like to invite you to attend her Celebration of Life to be held June 5th at 1:00 pm at Community Cremation and Funeral 13127 E Sprague Ave Spokane Valley WA 99216. An ice cream social will occur after wards at Spokane Valley Mission Park 11123 E Mission Ave Spokane Valley WA.
