Born to Alvin and Mary Nichols May 3, 1934 in Cotton Hill Township, IL, William left this earth on June 19, 2018, but leaves behind so many wonderful memories. After graduating from Elk Grove H.S. in Sacramento, CA Bill went into the military where he became an Airplane Mechanic for the USAF. In March of ’57 he took the hand of Carol L. Storey in a marriage that would endure for 61 years.
He and Carol moved to Spokane in 1959. In 1966, Bill went to work for Inland Asphalt in Spokane Valley, where he retired from 29 years later.
Bill had many interests and hobbies. He loved to meet with friends and listen to musical, most often in Spirit Lake at the Fireside Lodge. He also enjoyed traveling. His favorite places included Alaska, Montana, and California, and the Oregon Coast. Other pastimes included: rebuilding classic cars, like his ’57 Chevrolet; camping in their 5th wheel; finding the item he couldn’t live without at the next garage sale and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving, devoted father and grandfather.
William leaves behind his wife, Carol; children, Cheryl Smith, Gary Nichols, Linda (Steve) Agen; sisters, Elizabeth (Jim) Smith, Hallie (William) Clark; five grandchildren, Tyson (Amy) Nichols, Travis Nichols, Stephen Agen, James (Ashley) Agen and Amanda Agen. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Jim, Jack, and parents, Mary and Alvin.
He will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him.
