William H Boucher

June 29, 1917 - September 25, 2015

William H. Boucher died Friday September 25 at home with his Sons at his side at the age of 98. He was born in New York, NY along with his one older brother, John Boucher. Bill was always busy with two irons in the fire. The event that shaped his life was World War II. He served four plus years with the Army's 42nd Engineering Battalion. He was dispatched to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska to build radar sites then to the South Pacific to build runways. In between these two places he stopped over in Vancouver, British Columbia and met the woman that would one day become his wife, Dorothy Bebb of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They were married 49 years and had two sons, William Jr. and David. Dorothy Boucher passed away after fighting breast cancer for many years. A few years later Bill married Alice Stan and spent 14 years together as a happy couple until her death. Bill always wanted to build up community. He was a Scout Master of Troop 122 at Finch School here in Spokane. He volunteered at the Deaf Service Center and was volunteer of the year in 1984. He was in the choir at Unity Church and performed many Christmas programs at INB Performing Arts Center. After retiring from the Washington Air National Guard, Bill could not stand still so he went to college. Mr. Boucher earned four degrees, AA, AS, Bachelors degree from E.W.U. and a Masters Degree from E.W.U. in Education. Bill is survived by his sons Bud (Connie) Boucher, David Boucher. Grand children: Rachelle (Josiah) Boone, Will (Ashley) Boucher, Matt (Shasta) Boucher, Nick Boucher, Danielle Boucher, and Gabe Boucher. Great Grandchildren: Carter, Pixie, Holly, Oliyad, Selah, Ivy, Evan, Eva, Avery & Gabriella. Bill's Grandson Ryan Boucher preceded him in death. Funeral Mass will be: October 15, 2015 11:00 am St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3720 E. Colbert Rd., Colbert, WA 99005. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. 1004 East 8th Ave. Spokane, WA. 99202.
