Obituary for Sandra Kay Wolfe
With broken hearts & joy we said goodbye to Sandy on May 4, 2013. After suffering almost 3 years with ALS, she was peacefully set free into Jesus' arms. We are sad, but glad for her to be whole, healed & happy again, dancing with her daddy in Heaven! Sandy was born in Shore Acres, WA (near Everett) on Feb. 4, 1945 to Hazel Ella (Holland) & Wesley Sylvester Smith of Index, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents & brothers Wesley (Ron) & Steven Smith. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Michael; daughters Laurie (Jim) Johnson and Michelle (Steve) Klock; son Chris (Michelle) Wolfe; grandchildren Sarah, Kristen, Maddy, Daniel, Kathryn, Nicole, Amy, Aidan, Dakota & William; great-grandbaby on the way, Bailey Grace; sisters Nancy (Jim) Locke, Janice Sue Gowen, Judy (Ron) Schirman, Merry Ann Barnhouse; brother David (Pam) Smith; sister-in-law Susan (Paul) Hayduk, brothers-in-law Jim (Tim) Wolfe & Ed (Cheryl) Wolfe; numerous nieces & nephews; and her very devoted ""cat kids"" Rusty & Allie. Sandy grew up & attended school in Index, WA, graduated from Sultan Union H.S. in 1963 & met Mike on a blind date in August that year. A handsome sailor, he swept her off her feet. They eloped to the ""Hitching Post"" in Coeur d'Alene, ID 6 weeks later. Laurie, Michelle & Chris came along while Sandy was a Navy wife. After their service they moved to Deer Park (40 years ago) to work with Mike's parents at Wolfe Hardware, eventually purchasing the business. Sandy & Mike retired in 1994 to enjoy many years of WSU Cougar football games, camping & traveling. Sandy passionately loved her grandkids, family, friends, cats, hummingbirds, yard sales & thrift stores, TOPS, Bunco, chocolate, taking care of everyone & being in charge! She served the community in many ways including H.S. Booster Club, blood donor, Mary Steele Dog Walk, Settlers Day Honored Couple, wife of the mayor for 8 years, Meals on Wheels, Greenhouse volunteer, Toys 4 Tots, Coats 4 Kids & more. Sandy had a big heart that filled her whole body & burst out to touch everyone she knew. Her generosity blessed so many as she lived her life. She is greatly loved and will be terribly missed, until we're together again! Many thanks to family, friends, classmates & all those who have prayed, loved & supported Sandy & family. Special thanks to those who visited Sandy throughout the illness, her nurses & aides from Providence VNA & Hospice of Spokane, the ALS Assn. for invaluable equipment, Dr. Basil M. Griffin, M.D. & Linda Clarkson for going above & beyond, and Kim Predisik of Micah 6:8 Ministries for special music & humor that got Mike singing & Sandy smiling! We're blessed by all of you!
